Employer Sponsorship as your next visa option
Employer-sponsored visas allow specific skilled migrants to be sponsored by Australian employers to serve their business needs.
Your employer as your sponsor
If your employer can demonstrate that they are a legally established operating business, and that they are unable to find an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident with the required skills and experience for the job in their business, they can apply to become a sponsor.
Your employer can sponsor skilled workers, which occupation is on the official Skilled Occupation List (if the occupation is not on the list, employers may be able to negotiate a labour agreement) on either a temporary or a permanent basis who are:
- living overseas who are willing to travel and work in Australia
- already living and/or in Australia on another type of visa
If you are a skilled worker already holding a Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) or a Temporary Work skilled visa (subclass 457), your employer can also take over the sponsorship from your previous employer.
